The community is warmly welcomed to attend the live-streamed
ecumenical Candlelight Taizé meditation service being streamed on the
Groveland Congregational Facebook page on Sunday evening, January
31st at 7:00 PM. The service will also remain on Facebook for subsequent
viewing.
The theme of this month’s service is “Behold, I make all things new!” As
we begin a new year, we hope and pray for justice, peace, respect and
kindness. We pray for the guidance of God’s spirit. The service is modeled
after those held at the Taizé community in France, with prayer, song,
scripture, petitions and silence.
Taizé prayer is a simple form of ecumenical Christian prayer centered on
scripture, silence and song. It involves singing and listening to the word of
God in an atmosphere of silence and peace. The worship space will be
illuminated with a multitude of candles; the music will consist of simple
repeated refrains, enabling the worshipers to enter into prayer. There will
be readings from scripture, petitions and a time of silent prayer.
Why not give yourself the gift of these few moments of calm and peace in
God’s presence!
